Blu Jam Cafe's Crunchy French Toast

I'm a churro girl. I was a young primary school child when the crispy, buttery, cinammony, chewy, long, ridged treat touched my taste buds. I was forever changed and forever a fiend (I once had a churro overdose at Disneyland and couldn't eat one for a good year... I eventually got over that).

Anyway, if there's a churro flavored anything, I need to try it at least once so when I recently went home to LA on business trip, I had to make a stop at the relatively new breakfast & brunch spot called Blu Jam Cafe in Downtown LA to try their churro french toast. But when I got there, the server recommended that I go for the crunchy french toast instead. She warned me that that churro french toast, albeit tasty, was extremely sweet. I heeded her advise (I'll get that churro FT next time) because this "Crunchy French Toast" was supposedly their best dish (according to Yelpers and their menu).

It was pretty darn tasty and satisfying. Not too sweet not too dry. The brioche was nice and soft in the inside and had the slight crunchiness on the outside. The fruit mixture of strawberries and blueberries was a perfect tart juxtaposition to the sweetness of the powdered sugar and that creamy vanilla bean sauce. I covered the every piece of toast in the sauce. It wasn't just sugar, cornstarch, milk and vanilla flavoring. No NO, they had to have grated some fresh vanilla in there and eggs and some other special fairy dust. Had my sweet tooth uber happy. I ordered a side of bacon too to balance out the sweetness but that was just ok (it served it's purpose).

I'd come back for the french toast options and the yummy strawberry lemonade perhaps but I'm in no hurry.
