I've always been a picky eater. Since I can remember, I been given the slow eye roll from my mom (the "chef" of the family), the rest of my family and all my friends who eat soft boiled eggs and foie gras.
"You don't like onions?"
"You don't eat yams but you like sweet potatoe pie?"
"How come you don't eat mushrooms? They're so delicious!"
I've heard it all. Didn't bother me. I have a thing about smells and textures! Those boxes MUST be checked! Veal? Sorry (read: not sorry), issa no for me, dawg.
My mom was/is an excellent cook. Not professionally trained but she can throw down with the best of them. Growing up, our house was often FULL of people during the holidays because everyone already knew what time it was. I inherited her love and curiosity for food, but I march to the beat of a different palette :). And over time my taste buds have elevated and I've grown a fondness for the foods I once despised. Living GOLDEN out here!
